As the proud new owner of Tiny Greenhouse, allow me to introduce myself with a short bio…
After receiving a BFA in Dance/Liberal Arts from Rutgers University and performing in a modern dance company for over a decade, I began working as an assistant in the field of Early Childhood Education in 1999. I found my calling and have since worked in many different capacities in downtown Jersey City, private and public schools. I believe that the arts are incredibly important in child development. I have been teaching early childhood, art, music, capoeira, mindful movement, woodworking, dance and yoga to children of all ages in the downtown area for the last 18 years. In my spare time, I am very engaged in, and out there supporting the strong Jersey City arts community. I am thrilled to have found a new home at Tiny Greenhouse where I can learn and explore alongside my teachers and the children, and where all of my combined experience can be put to work to allow our JC village to grow stronger through the arts.

Nature friendly Art Studio where your child's creativity will develop through play
Tiny Greenhouse was born of the desire to provide all children from an early age, the experience to enjoy the benefits of art in the way nature intended, providing a safe, natural and non-toxic way for children to explore art while pitching in towards the preservation of our planet's resources!
An important and special feature of Tiny Greenhouse is the integration of recycled items into the creative process whenever possible. In doing so, children gain an awareness of how their own ability to express themselves can be interconnected with their community and can impact the larger world around them.
Tiny Greenhouse offers art classes in a studio environment for ages 18 months on, that are designed to teach and build upon age-appropriate art making skills while encouraging creative and imaginative communication, thinking and promoting self-discovery and independence. We strive to provide a positive and dynamic environment, with a commitment to inspire and spark the imaginations of kids through art.
Classes focus on experimenting with innovative processes and a wide range of materials while increasing children's confidence in their artistic abilities. Regardless of the project, materials or medium we are working with, children are given suggested topics and techniques to stimulate their imagination and help them visualize their ideas. They are not always given prescribed, step-by-step procedures, directions, or examples to copy, as this can inhibit self expression and lead to a frustrated urge for perfection in the child. Children can feel free and uninhibited to explore their creativity without worrying about making a mess, and parents don't have to scrub markers off the walls or paint out of the carpet!
